On Sunday October 19th we created a river of cyclists in celebration of the Garrison Creek! Human River’s Urban Water Cycle weaved participants through the Creek’s eclectic neighbourhoods, exploring the histories and ecologies of the creek with our partners through stories, art and music.
The Bike Parade started at 1:00pm at the NW corner of St. Clair & Humewood, and finishedat 3:30pm at Historic Fort York, Blue Barracks where there was a reception until 5:00pm. On arrival at the Fort, participants enjoyed free refreshments, learned more about buried rivers and Toronto’s history, and through our partnership with Coach House Books, viewed the other-worldly photographs of Toronto’s sewer system taken by vanishingpoint.ca’s Michael Cook.
With everyone wearing blue we became a human river bringing the Garrison Creek back to life!
(Cyclists completed a waiver form – including photography permission - in order to participate).
